New milestone in UAH – successful commissioning of the 1,200 MW substation

The 1,200 MW substation (UHMN-W), as part of the Umm Al Hayman wastewater treatment project, was successfully commissioned by the Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW) on April 25, 2022.
The commissioning was a remarkable achievement by WTE and its subcontractor Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, against a very tight timeline and despite the impacts and restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the future, the substation will be used to supply electricity to the new UAH wastewater treatment plant and to the state-owned Kuwait Oil Company.

After the successful commissioning and switching on of the ESF substation on the construction site of the new UAH sewage treatment plant, the prerequisites for the future power supply of the new sewage treatment plant were created. The substation consists, among other things, of 300 kV, 132 kV and 11 kV power transformers as well as gas-insulated switchgear.

WTE congratulates the entire team, including the Ministry of Public Works and MEW, for their great efforts and successful achievement of this milestone, especially considering the tight schedule and exceptional conditions during the pandemic.
